Julie Vega

Julie Pearl Apostol Postigo〔(Talking about "Julie Vega" )〕 (May 21, 1968 – May 6, 1985), better known by her stage name Julie Vega, was a Filipina child actress, singer and commercial model. She remains very popular and well-loved in her native Philippines, years after her sudden death at the age of 16 which triggered a massive outpouring of nationwide grief that is still vividly remembered by Filipino showbiz fans today.〔Skipojack (October 30, 2004). . Sun.Star Davao. Archived from (the original ) on November 18, 2004. Retrieved October 20, 2012.〕 She won two FAMAS Awards for Best Child Actress during her brief showbiz career.
==Early life and family==
Named after her parents, Vega was born at the UERM in Quezon City, Philippines to a practicing Roman Catholic family〔 ''Maalaala Mo Kaya: Unan''. Aired over ABS-CBN on October 2, 2003.〕 and was the youngest and only girl in a brood of six children of dentists Julio Postigo (1931–1991) from Zamboanga del Sur and the former Perla Apostol (nicknamed Pearl, born 1932)〔 from Iligan City. This fact led her family to nickname her Darling〔〔 and Tata, which was given to her by her nanny Flor Argawanon and means "youngest child" in the Visayan language.〔(Julie Vega's biography ) at the Internet Movie Database〕 She inherited her mestiza looks from her Irish American paternal grandmother, the former Aurora Fort, who came to the Philippines at a young age with her father, the American military general Guy Oscar Fort (1879–1942), who was executed by the Japanese during World War II.〔(General Guy O. Fort Memorial ) at Find a Grave〕 Through her same grandmother, Vega also has Dutch, English and distant French Huguenot ancestry.〔(Julie Vega — Ethnicity of Celebs | What Nationality Background Ancestry Race )〕〔(RootsWeb's WorldConnect Project: The Fort Family in America )〕 Aurora would later go on to marry Filipino Leon Postigo, who was also a military general himself.
Vega's older brothers are (according to order of birth) James (nicknamed Jimmy), Jeffrey (nicknamed Joey; November 22, 1960 – March 24,1983), Jonathan (nicknamed Noni), Joseph (nicknamed Toti) and Jerry (nicknamed Steve).〔 Lo, Ricardo F. (July 19, 1995). "Sleep tight, little darling". ''Weekend'', p. 12.〕
